This cheese ball appetizer has to be my trademark while living here in Greece.  I’ve brought this recipe from my home country  to Athens and for 14 years have served it at all my dinner and cocktail parties at home. It’s the perfect appetizer before dinner and I often take it to friends dinner parties, here its loved by both men and women they simply go crazy over it and always ask me for the recipe each time.

250 – 300 grams cream cheese

1-2 cups grated yellow tasty cheese

1 pickled onion (or 6 small) finely chopped

2 tablespoons  finely chopped parsley

2 tablespoons finely chopped gherkins

1 tablespoon tomato sauce

1tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/4 tsp paprika

few drops tabasco sauce

1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts (approximately)

  1. Combine cream cheese and yellow cheese in a bowl.
  2. Add pickled onions, parsely, gherkin, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce,  tobasco sauce and paprika.  Beat well to combine all.  Place the bowl with all the ingredients into the fridge for approx 1/2 an hour just to harden up a bit in order for you to be able to take the ingredients into your clean hands and shape it into a ball.
  3. Press it down and reshape it again as seen in the photograph. Take your finely chopped walnuts and lie them down onto white grease proof paper and start to coat your cheese ball, rolling on all sides but keeping its shape.
  4. Cover in cling film and  refridgerate again over night and take out just before your party or event and serve with a variety of crackers!
